Nigeria Technical adviser Gernot Rohr has said his team are not yet favourites to win the 2018 World Cup despite their emphatic win over Argentina on Tuesday night in Russia.
Nigeria came back from two goals down and defeated Argentina 4-2 at the Krasnodar Stadium in an International friendly game.
Alex Iwobi scored a second half brace, while Kelechi Iheanacho’s superb free-kick and a debut goal by Brain Idowu helped Nigeria to secure their second victory over Argentina at senior level.
“I am happy we came back from two goals down to win 4-2. It shows we have great team spirit and determination, when you keep fighting after going two goals down against a great team like Argentina,” said Rohr after the game.
Rohr added that the team must stay humble and prepare well for the 2018 World Cup.
“It’s good victory for us but it doesn’t mean we’ve become favorites to win the World Cup. We must stay humble and realize we have more work to do.
“We prepared well for this game because playing Argentina is big for us, maybe it is different for them.”
