By Sampson Benjamin.

The hopes of Inter Milan and Argentina forward, Mauro Icardi to make to the Russia 2018 world cup was dashed on Monday as the team coach dropped him from the final list.

The team’s gaffer, Jorge Sampaoli listed 3 goalkeepers , 7 defenders, 9 midfielders and 4 strikers for the much anticipated football fiesta.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi expectedly made the final list alongside Manchester city striker Sergio Aguero and Angel Di Maria of PSG.

Argentina are grouped alongside Nigeria, Croatia and Iceland in the tournament’s Group D.

Argentina and Nigeria will trade tackles in the last group game with the two hoping to have secured their qualification before squaring up against one another.
