Experienced defender and Kano Pillars vice captain, Chinedu Udoji, is dead.
He died in the early hours of Monday in a road accident along Club Road in Kano after visiting his former team-mates.
The 28 year old defender last featured for Kano Pillars hours before his death against his former club, Enyimba FC.
Enyimba FC, broke the news with condolences on Twitter before Kano Pillars tweeted the cause of death minutes later.
He joined Enyimba from FC Abuja in 2010 and starred between 2010 and 2016 becoming their captain. At the expiration of his contract, Kano Pillars, then led by his former coach Kadiri Ikhana, beat Rangers to his signature.
He has captained Kano Pillars this season with Rabiu Ali away for the CHAN tournament in Morocco.
His last contribution was in a 1-1 draw against his former club Enyimba FC in Kano winning the man of the match.
Journalists, Clubs, footballers and fans have expressed their shock and sent condolences due to the tragic demise of the hard tackling defender.
