Salefu’s performance fails to save Remo

A great second half performance from Ochowechi Salefu was not enough to save Remo Stars.

Remo Stars loss to Rivers United in their match day 34 encounter in Sagamu at the weekend officially confirmed them relegated from the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Remo Stars were out played by Rivers United in the first half and thus went into the break two goals down.

It was not until the introduction of Ochowechi Salefu in the second half that things looked up for the sky blues.

A lot of fans were left wondering if the outcome of the game would have been different if the energetic midfielder was included from the start as he came in and delivered a great performance.

Asked post match how he took the news of his  starting from the bench, Salefu says he took it in good faith.

“I didn’t feel bad, those who started played well” he says.

Despite a sublime second half showing and a goal for his side, Salefu and his team were unable to salvage anything from the game.

“They scored two goals in the first half.

“Coming back from two goals down was always going to be difficult” informs Salefu.

With four games left to end the season, Remo Stars will approach these games knowing all they have to play for is their pride.
