Plateau United defender Salomon Junior has said that his side are “100% ready” ahead of the all important Nigeria Professional Football League fixture against title rivals MFM FC.
League leaders Plateau United will host second placed MFM FC in a potential title decider at the Rwang Pam stadium in Jos on Sunday and the big defender is upbeat of victory for his side.
“It’s going to be a tough game against MFM FC. They are a very good side and they are an ambitious team. It’s only three points separating us but we want to increase it to six points on Sunday. Although the Lagos outfit have a good record of performance this season, reason why they occupy the 2nd position on the log up to this time, but no place for them to hide on sunday”, Junior told naijafootballplus.com
“We have forgotten the heart-warming performance against Kano Pillars on sunday to have our minds 100% on the clash against MFM FC. They have deadly attackers but we are capable of stopping them.
We can’t afford to slip at home
With five more matchdays left until the end of the season, Plateau United can’t afford to drop points with the league title now within reach. This is a thought not lost on Salomon Junior.
“We can’t afford to slip at home at this point as we don’t want to be dethroned from the top of the table that’s why we must put in extra performance against the team that’s capable of upsetting us. We don’t want this momentum to go down a bit.
“The contest will be good and tough but I have confidence we will get the three maximum points at stake”, said the former Bayelsa United defender.
Plateau United are top of the league table with 59 points, they are closely followed by MFM FC in second with 56 points.
