Simeon Nwankwo goal deny Juventus victory

Nigerian striker Simeon Nwankwo scored what is yet the biggest goal of his career for Crotone against record Serie A Champions Juventus to earn his side a draw and reignite a slowly fading title challenge in the Italian league on Wednesday night.

Simeon popularly called ‘ Simmy ‘ scored a 65th minute second half equalizer after Juventus left back Alex Sandro had initially given the champions an early lead in the 16th minute raising fears of a thumping for relegation threatened Crotone at the hands of the star studded and experienced Old Lady of Turin.

The goal from Simeon Nwankwo has repercussions at both ends of the table, as a point against table topping Juventus moved them within a point of 17th placed SPAL FC.

At the top of the table, the draw means Juventus see their 6 points advantage against second placed Napoli cut down to 4, with the Walter Mazzarri side dismissing Udinese 4-2 in another fixture played simultaneously.

Simeon Nwankwo has now scored 4 goals in all competitions for Crotone despite coming on as a substitute in most of the games.

Simmy will be hoping to replicate his form in their next game against Udinese on Sunday to help move his side closer to safety and away from the drops.
