Sit up or face wrath of NFF, Pinnick warns referees

President of the Nigeria football federation, Amaju Pinnick has charged football referees in the country to sit up or face the wrath of the federation.

Amaju, who expressed displeasure on calls made by some referees in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League, said the federation will not hesitate to continue to nail erring referees, who are the black points in the efforts to lift the standard of the game in the country.

He said it is quite unfortunate while the league managers are doing everything possible to place the league among the best in the continent, some referees who are key actors in the game are not ready to swim with the tide.

Amaju who was recently elected as a member of the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football(CAF) said while the federation’s target is to promote and see many Nigerian referees officiate matches at the highest stage of global competitions, also said that he will continue to support the good ones and recommended that the bad eggs among them be shown the exit.

Meanwhile Sarafa Agboola from Osun State who disallowed a goal scored by Rivers United FC in their game against Gombe United FC in the NPFL Week 17 game in Gombe has been suspended from the league.
