SKE FC overpowers Awoba Stars in Federation Cup win

SKE FC produced a masterclass performance in the quarter-final of the Rivers State Federation Cup to defeat Awoba Stars 3-1 in a game played at the Yakubu Gowon stadium.

Kimi Jeremiah converted a penalty in the ninth minutes to give SKE FC the lead after an Awoba Stars defender handled the ball in the box.

At the half hour mark, Awoba Stars FC equalised courtesy of a set piece as they cancelled out Kimi Jeremiah’s goal.

SKE FC double their lead in the 50th minute courtesy of a tap-in by winger Kimi Jeremiah following a wonderful delivery by Right back Francis Akpan.

Substitute for SKE FC, Douglas Bueka completed the demolition in the 56th minute when he scored an improbable strike from 25 yards.

The very energetic young side from Port Harcourt dominated proceedings in the game as the duo of Solomon Thompson and Obaleke Thomas all saw their attempts being saved by the goal keeper of Awoba Stars FC.

The victory for SKE FC ensures that they​ cruise into the semi-finals of the competition as they await the outcome of the game between MFM FC vs Rivers United.
