Solanke expected to come good at Anfield

A lot of progress will be expected of Dominic Solanke in a Liverpool shirt.

Solanke who this summer traded Stamford Bridge for Anfield would be expected to develop into a top player while with the reds.

Coach Jurgen Klopp has high expectations of the youngster who only recently critisized a lack of opportunity for youngsters at his former club Chelsea.

“He is a really skilled boy” Klopp told Sky Sports ahead of Liverpool’s participation at the Asian Trophy in Hong Kong.

“It was not too easy to see too many footage of him because he didn’t play for a long time but in the under twenties he was really extraordinary i would say.

“He is really a good player. Good size, good speed, good attitude, good everything.”

Also Liverpool legend Ian Rush has backed the youngster to achieve his full potential at Anfield.

Rush in a chat with the Liverpool ECHO at a fans event in Hong Kong makes it clear that age should not be a barrier for any talented player.

“I really like the look of Solanke,” Rush told the ECHO.

“He had a great tournament with England under-20s this summer and has an excellent reputation.

“This manager has shown that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough. Maybe at Chelsea it wasn’t quite like that.

“But at Liverpool we have a manager prepared to put his faith in youngsters.”

Solanke opted for Liverpool at expiration of his contract at Chelsea but a compensation fee will be set by tribunal as Solanke is a homegrown player under the age of 24.

Solanke has represented England at all youth team levels. He is however also eligible to represent Nigeria.

Playing for the England under twenty side at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Solanke was awarded the Golden Ball as the player of the tournament.
