After undergoing successful medicals, English championship side Reading Football Club has succeeded in signing Super Eagles midfielder Omatsone Aluko.
The deal sees Reading smash their transfer record in order to sign the player from Fulham.
28-year-old Aluko who netted 9 goals in 54 appearances for the Whites was given jersey number 14 and is in line to make his debut against Bristol City next week.
Reading gaffer Jaap Stam who has been tracking the player for sometime, was excited at the player finally completing his move to the Royals.
“In Sone, we welcome a quality player into our squad,” he said.
“With his pace and ability on the ball, he can
make life difficult for every opponent we face this season and he has experience of playing at the level we want to play at.
“He poses a threat going forward, he keeps the ball well, he can play as a striker or out on the wing and I am sure he will improve us as a squad”, he told the club’s website.
Chief Executive of Reading, Ron Gourlay said: “Acquiring a player of Aluko’s unquestionable talent demonstrates this club’s ambition and hunger for more success.
“I am very pleased that Sone has opted to
become a part of what we are trying to build
here at Reading and I am sure he will prove an exciting addition to our first team squad”, he stated.
Aluko is Reading’s sixth summer signing. Pelle Clement, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Vito Mannone, Mo Barrow Leandro Bacuna and Dave Edward have all joined the Royals as they aim to win promotion to the Premier League.
