Victory they say is sweet; and it’s really making everyone in Nigeria bask in an unusual euphoria, including the team.
Aftermath of the victory against Iceland in the second Group D game on Friday, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have finally admitted the cold criticisms that have since been directed at the team.
Ahmed Musa scored a second half brace to lift the Super Eagles above Iceland and Argentina on the log, with the last round of matches to decide who goes through to the next round.
Perhaps for the first time in a while, the official twitter account of the team reeled out some words, which in one way appreciated the push the team had received in form of criticisms.
“We thank you for your support, positive & constructive criticisms. They played a major role in our return to winning ways.
“Now, the real hard work begins. We are back on the pitch at 4.45pm for an open training session today.” The tweet read.
The performance of the Super Eagles in build up games to the World Cup since March have been greeted with different shades of opinions by football pundits and enthusiasts in the country.
The comments range from players selection to roles as well as the most suitable tactical approach and formation of the team.
Whether the criticisms played a pushing role or not, many fingers are still crossed in the football mad nation as they await the last group game against Argentina.
The Super Eagles will hope to finish off their task on Tuesday without depending on the result of the other game between Croatia and Iceland.
