The weekend turned out to be a festival of goals for Nigerian players across the world and of course your Monday is never complete without an Eagles wrap.
We begin in Asia where Super Eagles skipper John Mikel Obi scored his first goal for Chinese side Tianjin Teda in a 2-0 win over Chongqing Lifan.
Mikel scored a header in the 48th minute and lasted the entire 90minutes. Meanwhile, teammate and former Olympiacos forward Ideye was subbed off in the 68th minute.
Still in the Chinese Super League, former Werder Bremen striker Anthony Ujaho opened his account in the 69th minute as Liaoning Hongyun beat Jiangsu FC 3-1.
Meanwhile in Belgium, four Nigerians started for Gent against Club Brugge in which the Nigerians proved instrumental in all the major actions of the match.
Moses Simon scored twice to hand Gent the win after coming from behind.
His first goal was assisted by another Nigerian Samuel kalu in the 25th minute, before converting a penalty right at the end of the first half.
Super Eagles defender William Troost Ekong was shown a red card for Gent in the 60th minute. Only Anderson Esiti lasted 90 minutes. Kalu and Simon were substituted in the 56th and 75th minute respectively.
Rabiu Ibrahim was an unused substitute for Gent.
Across to Portugal, Oghenekaro Etebo scored the winner for Feirense in their win over Belenenses. Etebo came on from the bench in the 75th minute to score a late penalty making it two goals in two straight games.
In Ukraine, Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure scored for FC Zorya Luhansk but ended up on the losing side as Ukrainian power house Shakhtar Donetsk rallied to win 2-1 despite playing with 10 men.
Emmanuel has thus scored four goals so far this season.
