Nigerian striker Sylvester Igboun found the back of the net for Russian Premier League side FC Ufa as they took a slim 2-1 lead at home to Luxembourg side FC Progres Niedercorm in the UEFA Europa League match played on Thursday evening.

The Lagos state born forward slotted home the match opener in the 38th minute before his teammates Oblyakov 64th minute goal seem to have handed them considerable first leg advantage, a late goal from O. Thill made sure the visitors went home with an away goal and a slender deficit.

Igboun 27, saw out the entire duration of the game, but his Nigerian teammate Kehinde Fatai could not do much to influence the final result when he came on with seven minutes of normal time left, to replace the second goal scorer Oblyakov.

Former Midtjlland striker Sylvester Igboun has now scored two goals in the space of four days, following his effort against FC Anzhi on Monday.

Sylvester Igboun and Fatai Kehinde will hope to negotiate FC Ufa through the second leg next week when they face  FC Progres Niedercorm away in Luxembourg with a tie against Rangers or Moribor awaiting the winners in the penultimate preliminary round.
