Shooting Stars midfielder Adebogun Tayo has called on team-mates to show character in their attempt to give a positive response to last week’s defeat to league leaders Plateau United.
The Oluyole Warriors lost 0-2 to the league leaders courtesy of goals by Emmanuel Idafe and Ibe Johnson in each half.
Tayo Adebogun believes the loss is quiet painful but they need to shrug it off and focus on the next game against relegation threatened Gombe United at the Lekan Salami stadium Ibadan.
“We felt that we should turn things around for our good. We feel like we have been knocked out of our stride. The match could go either but it looks like we were sabotaged in Jos but I’m optimistic that better days lies ahead for us”, Adebogun told naijafootballplus.com
“The next couple of weeks will be a big test in our character but I believe we have what it takes to excel in our subsequent games. We need to fight for everything and show the desire to get back on track.
“We are professionals and we must show our professionalism in our next games. We must accept the responsibility and prove that Shooting stars isn’t just a club but a bigger club. We can’t dwell too much on the defeat to Plateau United and that is why we must put that behind us and focus ahead of next game.
“We will dig deep and go again this weekend against Gombe United. Although, It’s not going to be easy because Gombe united are also fighting the drop and it’s just three points separating us. We must show class and steadfastness in front of our supporters like we have been doing in our last couple games. We are confident of victory as anything less than the maximum three points is unacceptable”, the former Enyimba FC player concluded.
