Despite losing scandalously to Ghana in Sunday in the WAFU Cup final, three Nigeria home based Eagles were selected among the best eleven of the competition.

Expectedly, FC Ifeanyi Ubah goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa who was adjudged to be the best goalkeeper in the tournament was among the trio.

Other Nigerian home-based players included in the Team of the Tournament were Akwa United’s defensive midfield sensation Afeez Aremu and Rangers International’s Osas Okoro.

Nigeria capitulated in the final losing 4-1 against Black stars B team after a remarkable run to the final in which they were yet to concede a goal en route to the final.

The team of the tournament was released on the WAFU website on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Enyimba’s China Akas and FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s Adeleye Olamilekan were among the seven substitute named.
