Akwa United attacker Ubong Friday, is optimistic that Akwa utd can edge Al Ittihad of Libya on Sunday in Uyo when they clash in the 2nd Leg of their CAF Confederation Cup first round tie.
A late winner for Al Ittihad in the first leg gave the Libyan side a slim advantage over Akwa United in a 1-0 win.
Ahead of the second leg tie in Uyo, Ubong Friday tells Naijafootballplus.com that Akwa United will qualify come sunday at their Manor.
“Yes I believe we can do it convincingly. If they won us at their home, we can win in our home also and reach the next stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.
“We don’t want to be over confident, but we are going to qualify after tomorrow’s tie. Many wrote us off after the loss against Banjul hawks in the preliminary round, but we surprised them, and we will do that once again” said Ubong.
The Akwa United player further added that the current mood of the players in camp is a sign of good things to come on sunday.
“I must commend the players for their good spirit. The team spirit Is high here, we play for each other and I feel we can get it right for the game” concluded Ubong Friday.
Akwa United being only a goal down from the first leg would surely fancy themselves at the advantage of overturni the result and proceeding to the playoffs stage.
