Kano Pillars captain Chinedu Udoji, has admitted his side did not play well, after they lost 2-1 to Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
A goal in each half from Rivers United’s Bamba Bakari and Guy Kuemian condemned Pillars to a first league defeat of the season.
Junior Lokosa scored for Kano Pillars in the first half, his effort proved anything but a consolation for Kano Pillars who were dominated by Rivers United from start to finish.
Speaking to journalists at the Yakubu Gowon stadium, Udoji did not think his side did enough to leave with a point in the tie.
“It’s one of hose things in the game of football,” said a Udoji. “Sometimes you play to win and at the end it didn’t go your way. You just have to accept it.
“We didn’t play well today, that’s the honest truth and this is not how we play. Today (Sunday) is not our day, we just have to accept it and we have to go back home, plan ourselves and focus on the next game.”
Kano Pillars and Udoji will hope to correct the wrongs they made against Rivers United when they entertain Abia Warriors at the Sani Abacha stadium in Kano on matchday four of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
