Chief Coach of Rivers United Willy Udube is adamant his side won’t get relegated after they held Akwa United to a 1-1 draw in a rescheduled NPFL game on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.
Rivers United seat 2 points above the relegation zone with 41pts and 8 games remaining until the end of the season.
With an away trip against Rangers at the Cathedral next for his side Udube says Rivers United
Coach Willy Udube thereafter spoke on his team’s chances for the season after the game.
“We lost a match against Sunshine Stars at home and went to Ilorin to pickup a point. So something can happen in Enugu against Rangers. And I can say we won’t get relegated”.
Udube suggested his team did not have the rub of the green as 50/50 calls went against his side against Akwa United.
“Nobody likes to play home to lose. We came home to get the three points and unfortunately we didn’t win. We all know they came for a mission and with the referee, there would have been nothing we could have done to win this match.
“What we’re looking forward to is for us to have a fair game where people can come home and away and win. I’m betting you when we go away to Enugu on Sunday, there would be no fair play for us, everything is ganged up against us which is very wrong.
“It’s time for us to do things the right way and stop suffering people. There was no atom of Home Advantage for us which we always have everywhere we go to play”.
Rivers United are 12th on the log with 41 points from 30 games and would next take on Rangers on Sunday.
