The draw for the UEFA Champions League group stage has been made, and perhaps the biggest highlight is Chelsea coming up against Atletico Madrid.
There’s been talks between the two sides concerning the future of Chelsea striker Diego Costa, and both sides- who met in the semi-final in 2014- will lock horns in Group C, alongside Italian side Roma and Azerbaijani newboys Qarabag.
Group H makes a strong case for being the group of death, as holders Real Madrid face Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur and Cypriots APOEL Nicosia; while Manchester United were pitted against Benfica and FC Basel- as it was in the 2011/12 group stage – with CSKA Moscow completing the set.
United’s city rivals Manchester City go up against Napoli – the team they met in their first ever Champions League game in September 2011, Ukrainians Shakhtar Donetsk and Dutch Eredivisie champions Feyenoord in Group F.
In a repeat of last season’s quarter-final, Juventus and Barcelona come face-to-face, alongside Greek side Olympiacos and Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon; while in Group G French champions Monaco meet FC Porto, Besiktas, and German newcomers RB Leipzig.
The group stage kicks off on September 12.
