Nigeria U17 team, Golden Eaglets on Saturday in far away Niamey Niger picked up the sole AFCON ticket allocated to WAFU B zone with a victory over arch rivals Ghana.
After a goalless first half, Ghana’s Black Satelite opened the scoring in the 51st minute of the encounter and sent panic to the Nigeria’s bench.
The Nigerian lads continued to pile pressure until Akinkunmi Amoo leveled the game in the 67th minute of the game.
The two team fought hard to secure the vital goal but it never meant to be, until the centre referee blew the final whistle and the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.
The game headed straight to the penalty shootout, and Nigeria came top with a 3-1 win.
The victory qualified Nigeria Golden Eaglets for the U17 AFCON slated for Tanzania in 2019.
