Nigeria Golden Eaglets on Wednesday night in far away Niamey, Niger qualified for the final of the WAFU zonal B qualifier of the U17 after they defeated the host, Niger, 2-1.
The Nigerian lads dominated the possession but the Nigerien who hadn’t conceded a goal defended stoutly until the 43rd minute when Akinkunmi Amoo broke the deadlock through an assist from Muhammed Ibrahim.
The second half resumed with Nigeria still dominating and it paid off in the 58th minute as Olusegun Olakunle doubled Nigeria’s lead.
But Nigerien players rallied back to halve the scores late in the game and ended the match 2-1.
After sending out the host, Nigeria will face West African rivals Ghana, in the final after the Black Satelight edged Ivory Coast.
The winner between both teams, will represent West Africa In the U-17 AFCON next year in Tanzania
