Super Falcons coach, Thomas Dennerby has charged his team to do more in order to go farther in the WAFU Cup.
Speaking to journalists after the Super Falcons beat the Togolese Women’s football team 3-1, the Swede said his girls should’ve scored two or three more than they did
“Normally we should (have) scored two (or) three more goals, maybe we were a little bit satisfied with our first two games.
“We were on 80% today and if we really want to get more goals we need to perform at 100%.” He said
He was happy with the victory but tasked the team to combine individual brilliance and teamwork with improvements in all departments so as to post better performances.
“You have to run faster, pass faster, not take many touches on the ball, we were playing more like one on one and as a team.
“We won the game and I’m very happy for that but this team can do so much better.” He added
He expressed his satisfaction with the goal haul but said that his team can get better with a few addition from the bench
“I’m satisfied with our three goals but we could (have done) three more. We’re going to bring in some other players rested today to have a little bit stronger team for the next game that we had today.
On the Super Falcons’ next opponents, the former Swedish female team coach of the year praised Ghana but wanted his team to come out better.
“Ghana is a very good team and it is going to be two really strong teams with speed, technical skills, and good defending. So the team that has the best day will be in the finals but we have to increase our efforts to get there.” He concluded
The Super Falcons will face Ghana in the semi final on Thursday. The final is slated for Sunday in Abidjan.
