Ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cameroon in September, Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee, Bitrus Bewarang has once again come out to clarify their position concerning player call-ups by coach Gernot Rohr.
The Nigeria senior team put up a below par performance in the last AFCON qualifier against Bafana Bafana which has casts doubts about the team’s ability to stop the current African champions when they clash in September.
The NFF technical committee also debunked fears that has spread across football lovers in the country.
“I have been in constant contact with the team coach Gernot Rohr and he has assured us that he swim or sink with team and that the team has no option than to play well against Cameroon,” said Mr Bewarang to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.
“We must try to find a way of avoiding the lackluster outing recorded against South Africa. There was no coordination and I was not personally happy. What we want from Rohr is to explain to us how he came about this or that player. He even invited players in the second cadre of less fancied foreign leagues,” he stated.
Nigeria will host the first leg of the encounter before travelling to Yaoundé for the return-leg 4 days later.
