Dot the I’s and cross the T’s on your fantasy team selections people, because another weekend of football is upon us.

And there are not many ways to start the weekend than with a game at Old Trafford, as Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off sees Tottenham take their impressive league form with them to Manchester United’s Theatre of Dreams, both teams locked level on points and five behind log leaders Manchester City, so there’s little margin for error in that clash.

But the weekend actually kicks off on Friday night, as Paris Saint-Germain with their star-studded and ‘arrogant’ squad (Eric Devin’s words) welcome struggling OGC Nice to the Parc Des Princes, as Le Parisien seek to maintain their lead atop the French Ligue 1 table. That might be a fixture to look forward to.

Speaking of fixtures to look forward to, it’s a big one in Italy as Serie A champions Juventus travel to big-spending but underperforming AC Milan on Saturday, in a game that might see Milan skipper Leonardo Bonucci square up against his former side.

In Spain, the headline fixture is likely to be Barcelona travelling to their manager Ernesto Valverde’s former home ground of San Mames, to take on Basque club Athletic Bilbao; although Atletico Madrid’s meeting with Villarreal at the Wanda stadium is not without its potential allure.

Elsewhere; it’s the clash between last season’s champions and the last season’s runners-up in the Bundesliga as Bayern Munich play host to RB Leipzig, La Liga holders Real Madrid make their maiden trip to newbies Girona, while it’s a meeting of two friends at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool team play host to David Wagner’s Huddersfield, who’ve already shown their giant-killing credentials this season with a win over Manchester United.

Arsenal welcome Swansea to North London, Leicester kick-off their Claude Puel tenure with a home game against managerless Everton, and there’s a Rhein derby in Germany as Bayer Leverkusen host Koln in the Bundesliga.

On a Halloween weekend, it really is quite a treat.
