Head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League campaigners Wikki Tourists, Mohammed Baba Ganaru has expressed his unhappiness at his team’s poor showing in the first stanza of the 2016-2017 league season.
Wikki Tourists had finished the last two NPFL seasons in 3rd and fourth position respectively but are currently near the foot of the table with 19 matches gone into the current season.
Ganaru who took over the Wikki Tourists job after Abdu Maikaba left to join Akwa United, watched on as an Ndifreke Effiong double for Abia Warriors condemned Wikki Tourists to their ninth defeat of the season.
“As far as I am concerned, I’m not satisfied with our performance, considering that we did very well in the last two seasons but I am not comfortable with our position in the log this season,” said an unhappy Ganaru in his post match reaction.
“We have a lot of work to do in the second round. So, of course, I need to recruit more players to reinforce the team, especially in the attack,’’ he said.
Abia Warriors might have won 2:0 on the day – a victory which was their first against the Tourists, but Ganaru was left to rue his team’s missed opportunities on the day.
“I am disappointed with the result because we played well, especially in the second half, when the team created some goal-scoring chances,’’ he said.
Wikki Tourists are in 16th position with 21 points from 18 matches though they still have one outstanding game.
