NPFL campaigners Gombe United have issued a 3 game ultimatum to it’s management crew as it looks to improve on it’s performance and standing on the log in the second half of the season.
The club also announced the recruitment of eleven new players and the release of eight players, with the salaries of existing players increased.
In a communique released by the club and signed by the AGM media and publicity, Tajinu Umar reads as follows;
“Preparatory to the second round of the 2016/17 NPFL season, the Management Board of Gombe United Football Club, in an effort to strengthen the team and motivate the players, deliberated and approved the following.
1. Based on recommendation from the technical crew, eleven new players were signed as reinforcement to the team. Breakdown of these new players is as follows:
a) Igoh Ogbu-Central defender (from Geeleg Academy, Jos)
b) Habib Olawale-Central midfielder/Full back (from Lagos Academy)
c) Iyoro Evans-Central midfielder (from Dolphins)
d) Afolabi Abdulwaheed-Striker (from Shooting Stars)
e) Tijani Adamu-Central midfielder (from Kano Pillars)
f) Joseph Onoja-Winger (from Elkanemi Warriors)
g) Usman Musa-Winger (from Doma United)
h) Abdulrahman Umar Kelebe-Striker (from Yarmalight)
i) Zaidu Mohammed Ibrahim-Left Full back (from Flash)
j) Jamilu Shehu-Central defender (from Doma United)
k) Aminu Abubakar Yusa-Striker (from Taraba United)
2. To this effect, eight players were released, based on mutual consent. These are:
a) Bala Mohammed
b) Fabassou Diedonne
c) Nura Mohammed
d) McDonald Igbankwe
e) Franklin Matibel
f) Nnamdi Ebosie
g) Samuel Agba
h) Chidera Ejuike
3. Based on player performance index, players’ salaries were improved. This is with a view to impelling them to improve their performances
4. The Technical Adviser, Coach Manu Garba, OON, and his crew are given ultimatum in the next three matches to improve on the team’s performance or face sanction.”
Gombe United will be in action next Wednesday when they take on league Champions Enugu Rangers in a rescheduled NPFL game.
