FC Ifeanyi Ubah midfielder Yaya Kone says a win over reigning NPFL champions Plateau United at the weekend is of more importance than his hat-trick in the NPFL matchday 14 encounter.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah winless in four NPFL games before Sunday’s encounter moved out of the bottom four after Kone’s hat-trick sunk the Jos based club.
Kone opened scoring for his team with two minutes left in the first half and completed his hat-trick on the matchday with a brace within 10 minutes of the second half.
“I’m excited we won and I scored three goals to help the team win, this is our first win in five matches and the victory was more important. I am dedicating the hat-trick to my teammates, I was able to score three goals because the entire team worked for it,” Kone said to Naijafootballplus.com.
“It has been a mixed season for us and we are working as a team to improve our matchday results, it wasn’t easy achieving such great result against the league champions. I think the result will motivate us and hopefully we’ll sustain the momentum.”
Yaha Kone’s hat-trick is the second of the NPFL season following Nafiu Kabuga’s hat-trick against Rivers United on matchday 12 in Jos and
Kone looks forward to scoring more goals this season.
“Personally, I want to score more goals and help my team win matches. We have a new manager and gradually we are bonding with his philosophy.
“I’m happy for the hat-trick and I hope we can improve our performance both home and away.”
FC Ifeanyi Ubah are placed in 11th position with 18 points from 14 matches, two points above the drop zone.
