Super Falcons striker Uchenna Kanu has vowed to work hard and ensure she makes the final list to France for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup next month.

The former U17 and U20 player in a chat with Naijafootballplus.com believes with continuous hard work, she can earn a shirt for herself to France.

“I will continue to work hard to make the team, the list is not out, so I’m sure I will put in my best to be able to make the team going to the World Cup. I have a lot of work to do if I want to make it to France,” Kanu said to Naijafootballplus.com in an exclusive interview.

Kanu who was named the ‘Woman Of The Match’ (WOTM) after scoring hat-trick in Nigeria’s 5-1 bashing of Burkina Faso in the WAFU Cup Group B match on Thursday expressed her excitement for winning the award and promised to work more for the team.

“It makes me feel excited and confident in myself knowing that I can do it, it doesn’t matter if I start the match or not, this will encourage me to put in more extra work,” she said.

The Southeastern University striker who has an intimidating goal scoring record in her club having scored 57 goals with 18 assists in 2018 said that her target in the WAFU tournament is to ensure she helps the Super Falcons get to the final and also lift the trophy.

When asked if she thinks Nigeria stands a chance to win the trophy when the likes of defending champions Ghana and host Cote D’ivoire are in the competition, Kanu insisted the Super Falcons have a good squad that can face any opposition.

“My target is to help my team get to the final, not just get to the final but lift the trophy and I’m working towards that aim to help my team actualize the goal. I think we have a good team that can confront any opposition and it’s up to us (players) to work hard and make it happen,” she added.

Nigeria will be up against Niger Republic on Saturday at 4.30pm Nigeria time for their second group B match. The Super Falcons are placed second in Group B behind Mali who had a better goals difference but with the same numbers of points.
