Despite being out of action for quite a while due to injury, there is a reason for Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru to be happy about his career as he clinched the promising player of the year of 2017 award in the Belgian Jupiler league.
The speedy forward who is undergoing rehabilitation with at his parent club Everton polled 219 votes to defeat challengers Hassan Bande and Diamata.
Onyekuru has had a good year concerning his career in 2017 despite the injury he sustained later. In the year under review, he netted 22 goals in the colours of KAS Eupen which eventually propelled him to be one of the most sought after strikers and in Europe.
Scottish Champions Celtic was on the verge of signing him before English Premier League side Everton eventually secured his signature and loaned him back to Belgium with Anderlecht where he has also netted 9 goals before he sustained Knee injury which has kept him out.

Apart from Onyekuru, three other Nigerians were also on the nomination list which include Samuel Kalu ( Gent), Uche Agbo ( Standard Liege) and TAIWO Awoniyi ( Royal Mouscron).
