Two time African champions, Enyimba International FC will tomorrow, July 18, host Williamsville Club Athletic in a matchday three group C fixture of the CAF Confederations Cup at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Enyimba who lost their last group game 3-0 to CARA Brazzaville in Congo and will want to put the woes of the defeat to bed with a victory against the Ivoriens who sit on top of group C.
The Aba based side who are Nigeria’s sole representative in the continent have had their stadium under reconstruction for a greater part of three years and moved from their adopted ground in Calabar to Port Harcourt after teams complained about the playing surface of the U.J. Esuene Sports Stadium.
Williamsville CA, who arrived Port Harcourt on Monday afternoon, will look to consolidate on their run of no defeat in group C as they tackle the Nigerians after recording a draw and a victory in their last group fixtures despite not being considered as favorites to qualify.
Enyimba are buoyed by the return of Captain Mfon Udoh and talismanic midfielder, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu from injuries. Coach Abdallah will be expected to take charge of the team as the future of Paul Aigbogun at the club remains unknown.
Enyimba saw off Energie FC and Bidvest Wits FC of Benin Republic and South Africa respectively to get to the group stages and have beaten Djoliba AC of Mali in Calabar before suffering a disappointing 3-0 defeat in Brazzaville to CARA Brazzaville. Kick off is scheduled for 2pm with the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium having a few lighting issues.
