Super Eagles B Team assistant coach Imama Amapakabo has said his side have proven they can dig deep into a game and get desired results.
Nigeria came from behind in Tangier on Sunday night and edged out Angola 2-1 to reach the semifinals of the 2018 African Nations Championship.
Anthony Okpotu scored a late equalizer in the second half to cancel out Va’s opening goal. Akwa United forward Okechukwu Gabriel scored the winner in the extra time.
“We had our chances but couldn’t convert them early, these are the basics we have taught the players over time in training but we will continue to work on the team.
“We dominated and created chances but unfortunately we are not hitting target. We told the boys to stay calm and continue to pressure that the goals would come. The game is played for 90 minutes or more and it’s not over until it’s over. We have also proven with this result that this team can dig deep and get the desired result.
“Everyone has the right to their opinion, but no one can actually say when the goals will come. It’s a game of football and that makes it beautiful, we came here to win and we are thankful we were able to win,” said Imama to Naijafootballplus.com.
