CHAN 2018: Injury worries hit Super Eagles camp, as Coach Salisu hopeful


Super Eagles chief coach Salisu Yusuf, has revealed three of his players are doubtful for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) quarter-final match against Angola.

Nigeria who finished top of Group C with seven points, will face Group D second placed team Angola in Tangier for a place in the semi-final of the 2018 CHAN on Sunday at 5.30pm.

The former Kano Pillars coach divulged that Plateau United left-back Daniel Itodo, Akwa United midfielder Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Plateau United winger Peter Eneji are doubtful for tomorrow’s encounter against Angola.

“Itodo was taken to the hospital during training on Friday and Ifeanyi is also having issue, the doctor is working on them and we hope they will be available for the game”, said Salisu.

Eneji is yet to play any game in Morocco due to the injury he suffered in Abuja and despite the coach keeping faith in him, he is yet to recover from the knee injury. spotted Eneji completing the team training but with a
limping leg.

Salisu added; “He has been responding in training but we are still monitoring his situation, we have to be sure he’s 100% fit before throwing him into the game.

We have to avoid starting unfit players and we are hopeful he will be available soon.”
