Nigeria Football Federation, the NFF has confirmed five international friendlies against England, Poland, Czech Republic, DR Congo and Serbia for the Super Eagles in preparation for their World Cup campaign.
The Federation’s President, Amaju Pinnick revealed this long and inviting list of matches during a media briefing heralding the sponsorship arrangement with soft drink giants Coca-Cola yesterday in Lagos.
Eagles will start their World Cup preparation against Poland on March 23 in Poland and 4 days later, Serbia will be their opponents in London. They’ll then host DR Congo in Nigeria on May 25 after which they’ll move they’ll move to the second phase camping at a health resort in Austria from June 3 – 11.
A couple of friendlies will also follow against England on June 2 and the final exhibition against Czech Republic on June 6.
Eagles will then move to Yessentuki, Stavropol Territory, their official World Cup camp in Russia’s southern region, starting June 11.
Amaju explained that the match against DR Congo in Nigeria, will be before the team’s departure for Russia and it’s a chance for Nigerians to assess their World Cup squad and interact with them.
Eagles will be playing at their 6th World Cup. They’ll start their World Cup campaign against Croatia on the 16th of June before playing Iceland on the 22nd of June, then Argentina on the 26th of June.
