The journey might still be long but Kano Pillars midfielder, Nzube Anaezemba is setting a long sight on a piece of silverware with the Kano based club.
Kano Pillars, who might have felt hard done, by the abrupt end to the 2018 NPFL, are currently in the round 16 of this year’s Aiteo Cup and the former Enyimba midfielder wants to go all the way and win his first piece of silverware in his first year with the club.
Kano Pillars departed the ancient city of Kano for Lagos on Saturday, had a stop over in Akure and arrived Lagos on Sunday as they will take on Kwara United, Rivers United and Abia Warriors in a dubbed ‘group of death’ for a place in the next round of this year’s Aiteo Cup.
“We were not far from the top before the league was put on hold, we wanted to continue from where we stopped but it was not meant to be.
“We have another chance to pick a continental ticket in the Aiteo Cup now and I’m personally putting all my heart to this competition” Nzube told naijafootballplus.com in a telephone chat.
The Sunshine Stars academy product and former Enyimba player was recruited from Rivers United at the end of last season, and having tasted league triumph and continental football with the Aba giants, it tell more about how much Pillars need him in their quest.
For Kano Pillars who were dumped out of the competition in the round 64 last year by Yobe Desert Stars, advancing past the round 16 would be priority.
The Pyramid City boys will begin their quest against Nzube Anaezemba’s former team, Rivers United at the Agege stadium by 2pm on Monday.
