Rivers United Technical adviser, Stanley Eguma has assured that his team will come out victorious this weekend in their pursuit of getting to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table irrespective of ‘fatigue’.
The Port Harcourt side who defeated Akwa United 2-0 on Thursday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium Port Harcourt, in a rescheduled NPFL Matchday 13 game will be playing their 4th match in 12 days when they host Nasarawa United on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of that game, Eguma says his team must be strategic going into the game.
“We have to fight against fatigue, that is the most important thing,” said Stanley Eguma speaking after his side’s win over Akwa United on Thursday.
“We will also perfect our strategy. Nasarawa United is our opponent, we will study them and know how they play and also come up with a game plan to win them because they are a good side.”
Rivers United for more than two seasons have struggled with goal scoring and Stanley Eguma pointed out that United is gradually becoming a high scoring side and will hope to score more goals when they play Nasarawa United on Sunday.
Rivers United scored two goals against Lobi Stars and Heartland in previous games, found the back of the net once in their match away to Katsina United before scoring twice against Akwa United in midweek.
Goals from Emeka Ogbugh and Malachi Ohawume secured the crucial win for the Stanley Eguma tutored side against continental campaigners Akwa United.
They are 6th on the Nigeria Professional Football League table with 23 points.
